Unit owners urged to speak up about strata insurance problems
11 January 2012North Queensland unit owners are being urged to contribute submissions to the ongoing strata insurance inquiry by Monday 16 January 2012.
Following the North Queensland community forums held in November 2011 which were sponsored by Archers Body Corporate Management, the Federal Government announced the Natural Disaster Insurance Review would be expanded to incorporate the issue of rising strata insurance premiums in North Queensland.
The inquiry into residential strata title insurance is examining the affordability of strata insurance in North Queensland.
A number of Archers clients in North Queensland have experienced premium increases of 400 per cent, and in some cases greater. Solutions to ensure strata insurance is affordable and sustainable in the long term are vital to see investment continue in North Queensland.
This inquiry is broad-ranging and asks for submissions from the public. It is essential that unit owners have their say to ensure that the outcomes of the inquiry reflect the current price situation.
